11 Ideas for Decorating with Surf Style!

(source - Greg Norman's Hobe Sound Home - Coastal Living)
Simply a happy, carefree, total outdoor beach living lifestyle!   If we ever manage to move to the Central California Coast (Love Cayucous and Pismo Beach!), I am going to figure out a way to incorporate some surf style in our adopted home of California.

Bright colors, a dash of Hawaii, and of course a vintage surfboard or two, this coastal decorating style just speaks to me of what living and playing at the beach really mean; a little sandy, a little salty and complete fun in the sun!

So inviting!  I am willing to bet that they surfed and played at the beach all day, and now it's time for roasting marshmallows. (Source - Stephen Busken Studio)

One of my all time favorite images from House Beautiful Magazine! So easy to imagine a summer party on this beach cottage patio.  Actually, I am crazy about the whole house - check out designer Krista Ewart's California beach bungalow!

A fun idea for a kids room or maybe even a guest room at your surf shack!  From HGTV.com

Totally adorable and very creative!   (note to self... buy chalkboard paint)  From Desire Empire, I love what she's hand crafted with a little imagination and creativity.

Just a bright pop of color to add to the beachy look in this staircase - from House Beautiful

Super adorable tween girl's room! (source - unknown)

What do you think?  I am liking the mix of yellows and greens - looks super casual for sandy feet! (Source- Washington Post)

How fun is this room?  Classic beach stripes and surfboard accent mixed with global influences of zebra prints. Anybody who really knows me, knows that I have a closet love for animal prints.... don't tell!

A little glam from Mary McDonald!  Love those white wood floors, grey fog mural walls- and to make it really interesting, a deep yellow surfboard. I confess that I have a total design crush on Mary...

From Apartment Therapy, fun tour at Celeste and David's Pin-Up Pad! I wanted to show you all this, because they collect vintage posters; the "bikini" movie posters are an extra special touch at their house mixed with the vintage surfboard.  Not sure that I could do the "tiki" thing at my house...

Here's a few ideas from our collection to inspire you!

Surfer's Cove from Spicher Art

New from Spicher Art - totally fun beach art!  Seaside Resort

And in case you can't find any "real" surfboards - these fun Surf Art pieces from Suzanne Nicoll are pretty darn fun! (they can even go outside in a covered area)

What do you think?  Could try some of these ideas at your house?

P.S.  I don't think I will ever take up surfing, but stand-up paddling is definitely on my bucket list!
